Winalco Remote — back to top

Remote support for Windows

Take control of your Windows computers. End-to-end encrypted, private by design.

Winalco Remote shows the screen of a remote computer and lets you control its keyboard and mouse, exchange files and copy-paste from one computer to the other. All you need is the computer’s ID and password: our servers connect the two computers without ever seeing that password or the screen.

  • 12 months free when you sign up
  • No credit card
  • Windows 8.1, 10 and 11
Home screen of the Winalco Remote application. On the left, “This computer” shows the ID 746 795 218 and the password 883 272. On the right, “Control a computer” offers the ID and password fields and the “Connect” button.

Features

Everything you need to work remotely

The features presented here are those of the current version of the Winalco Remote application for Windows.

The remote computer, as if you were sitting in front of it

The screen is shown live in a dedicated window and you control the keyboard and mouse. Quality adapts automatically to the connection, or can be set to 1080p, 720p or 540p.

  • Send Ctrl+Alt+Del and choose the screen on a computer with several monitors.
  • Black screen: the computer’s physical screen stays hidden during the session, and its keyboard and mouse can be locked.
  • Remote restart, subject to the computer: it asks the person present for consent, or gives thirty seconds’ notice when the computer is set up for unattended access.
Winalco Remote session bar: live “Connected” status (P2P), computer ID, “Files” and “Control” buttons. The “Control” menu is open on “Send Ctrl+Alt+Del” and the quality choice: Auto (adaptive), 1080p, 720p or 540p.

Files from one computer to another

A two-pane window, local computer and remote computer: send, receive and follow the queue. Copy-paste also works between the two computers, for text as well as files.

  • Drag and drop between the panes, or Ctrl+C / Ctrl+X then Ctrl+V.
  • Progress of each transfer and an event log.
  • An intervention log on the computer records what was done on it, including the files exchanged.
Winalco Remote “File transfer” window: “Send” and “Receive” buttons, “Local computer” and “Remote computer” panes with their folders and files, then the task queue with a progress bar.

Several computers in tabs

Control several computers in the same window: the keyboard and clipboard follow the active tab.

Unattended access

For a server or a computer with nobody in front of it: a Windows service and a permanent password of at least 12 characters, including on the sign-in screen and after a restart.

The computer stays in charge

By default, the person accepts or refuses each connection. Another possible setting: an 8-digit code renewed automatically. In every case, “Disconnect” ends the session.

Web controller

Control from a browser, without installing anything on your computer, with your customer portal account.

Customer portal and team

Your plan, your invoices, your computers, ongoing sessions and your technicians’ invitations, all in one place.

Linked computers

Link your computers to your organisation to name them, find them and follow their activity. Linking uses no quota.

How it works

Take control in three steps

No server to install: Winalco takes care of connecting the computers.

  1. The computer to support opens Winalco

Under “Mon poste” (this computer), the application shows the computer’s 9-digit ID and its password.

  2. You enter these two details

In “Piloter un poste” (control a computer), from your own computer. Depending on the remote computer’s setting, the person accepts the connection with one click, or the code is enough.

  3. You take control

The remote screen opens in a dedicated window: keyboard, mouse, files and copy-paste. On the computer, a “A controller is connected” banner lets the person end the session at any time.

Security

Our servers connect. They do not see your sessions.

The Winalco Remote protocol treats its own servers as untrusted: even if compromised, they could not recover the password, see the screen or step in between the two computers.

  • Password never transmittedBoth computers prove they know the same password through a cryptographic exchange (SPAKE2): what travels cannot be used to recover it, even offline.
  • End-to-end encryptionImage, input and files travel encrypted (DTLS) between the two computers. When a relay is needed, it carries data it cannot read.
  • Protection against interceptionEach computer checks the other’s encryption fingerprint with a key derived from the password: a middleman would be detected and the connection refused.
  • The computer has the last wordIt is the computer that checks the password and blocks repeated attempts, even if a server let them through.
  • Identified accounts and computersTwo-factor authentication for the customer portal, and a cryptographic identity unique to each computer (Ed25519).

UK prices, in pounds sterling (GBP), will be published here. Until then, write to us for a quote. You subscribe from the customer portal, after creating your account.

The 12 free months start when the account is created. Subscribing during the offer loses nothing: the plan starts at the end of the free period. With no plan afterwards, your account remains usable for free with 1 computer, 1 technician and 1 open computer: nothing is deleted.

A plan change applies by default when the current plan’s term ends: nothing you have paid for is lost. Without payment at the end of the term, the plan’s rights stay active for 7 days, then revert to those of the 12-month offer if it is still running, otherwise to those of the free plan.

How does a subscription work?

  1. Quote

You choose a plan: the amount excluding VAT, the VAT and the total are shown before any invoice.

  2. Invoice

Its terms are fixed, even if prices change later.

  3. Bank transfer

You pay by bank transfer, quoting the invoice number.

  4. Proof of payment

You upload the proof of transfer to the invoice, in the customer portal.

  5. Activation

Winalco checks that the payment was received and activates the plan.

How are the limits counted?
  • Controlled computers: each different computer controlled by a member of the organisation, from the application or the browser, enters a list valid for 90 days. A computer already on the list can be controlled again without limit; a computer not controlled for 90 days leaves it automatically.
  • Technicians at the same time: a connected application or browser counts as one technician, even if it opens several computers.
  • Computers open at the same time: the total number of control sessions in progress in the organisation.
  • Linking a computer to the organisation uses none of these quotas.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything?

On the computer to support, the Winalco Remote application or the QuickSupport module is enough. To control, use the application, or the web controller from a browser with your account. There is no server to install on your side.

Which versions of Windows are supported?

The executables offered on this site run on Windows 8.1, 10 and 11, 64-bit. For an older computer, write to us.

Does it work behind a firewall or a router?

Yes. The two computers connect directly when the network allows it. Otherwise, the connection goes through a relay that carries the encrypted data without being able to read it.

Who authorises taking control of a computer?

The computer itself, according to the setting chosen in the application:

  • Ask for authorisation at each connection (default): the person clicks “Accept” or “Refuse”.
  • Code only: an 8-digit code is enough, renewed automatically after sessions.
  • Permanent password: at least 12 characters, for unattended access.

During a session, a “A controller is connected” banner and its “Disconnect” button let the person take back control.

Can I access a computer with nobody in front of it?

Yes, with a permanent password and the Windows service installed from the application’s settings. The computer stays reachable, including on the sign-in screen and after a restart.

What do your servers see?

What is needed to connect the computers and apply your plan: computer IDs, IP addresses, signed-in accounts, start and end of sessions. Never the session password, the image, the input or the files exchanged, which stay end-to-end encrypted.

How do I pay for a paid plan?

From the customer portal: choose the plan, an invoice is issued, pay it by bank transfer quoting its number, then upload the proof of payment to the invoice. The plan is activated as soon as the payment is confirmed.

What happens when the term ends?

You renew from the customer portal. Without payment, your plan’s rights stay active for 7 days after the end of the term, then revert to those of the 12-month offer if it is still running, otherwise to those of the free plan. You can also cancel at the end of the term.

What happens after the 12 free months?

One month before the end, then one week before and the day before, the customer portal and an e-mail warn you. To keep the same rights, subscribe to the Essentiel plan: it starts at the end of the free period. Without a plan, after 7 days of grace, your organisation moves to the free plan (1 computer, 1 technician, 1 open computer); your computers, your team and your invoices stay in place.

Can I control computers without creating an account?

Yes, from the application: a computer can control up to 3 different computers during the 12 months after its first control session, then 1 computer. Creating an account costs nothing and gives your organisation its own 12 free months, the web controller and the customer portal. The computer being supported never needs an account.

Personal data

Your data stays yours

What we collect, why, and your rights — in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who is responsible for your data?

The data controller is Abdelouahab Bouchair, an individual who publishes and operates Winalco Remote under the trade name Winalco, 09 Rue Rekhaïf Ali, 19000 Sétif, Algeria. For any question about your data, or to exercise your rights, write to us using the contact form.

What data, and what for?
  • Account — name, e-mail address, password (stored as an irreversible hash), sign-in history: to create your account, keep it secure and contact you about it.
  • Billing — organisation, invoices, proofs of payment and payments: to manage your subscription and meet our accounting obligations.
  • Devices — device ID, machine name and technical identifier, IP address: to connect devices to each other and apply your plan’s limits.
  • Sessions — the screen image, keyboard, mouse, clipboard and files travel directly from one device to the other, end-to-end encrypted. Our servers cannot read them and nothing is recorded.
  • Test programme — only if you agree to it in the application: redacted technical logs (no screen content, keystrokes or file names), to improve reliability.
Where is it kept, and who can access it?

The service for our UK customers runs on servers located in the United Kingdom. Only authorised Winalco staff can access your data. It is never sold or passed on, and is disclosed to an authority only when the law requires it. This site sets no cookies and uses no advertising or audience-measurement tools.

How long is it kept?

Account and device data: for as long as the account exists. Invoices and payments: the legal retention period for accounting records. Test programme logs: 30 days. A message sent through the contact form is not stored on our servers; it is kept in our mailbox only for as long as it takes to handle your request.

When do we ask for your consent?

For what is optional, and only there: taking part in the test programme, which the application offers at first launch. You can refuse — the application works exactly the same — and change your mind at any time in Settings. Each remote control of a device also requires the consent of the person in front of the screen, unless the device has been set up for unattended access by whoever manages it. Everything else is processed because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for (contract), to meet our legal obligations (invoices), or for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure (sign-in history, IP addresses) and in replying to your messages.

What are your rights?

You can access your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format and withdraw a consent you gave at any time. Write to us using the contact form: we reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK data protection authority.
